Marwan Kheireddine Recap


Marwan Salim Kheireddine is the CEO and chairman of AL-MAWARID Bank, where he has served in various positions since1992. AM Bank is the leading commercial bank with operations outside Lebanon. Marwan also served as State Minister in the Lebanese Government from 2011 to 2014. During this tenure, he served at various ministerial committees, where he played a critical role in financial, economic, and fiscal matters. He was instrumental in establishing the National Social and Economic Action Plan that assisted in addressing challenges facing the economy of Lebanon.

Marwan Salim Kheireddine championed the improvement of the Business Environment In Lebanon by establishing modern- service-oriented investment Law proposals. Marwin also served in various committees such as the Budget Committee, Public-private Partnership Law Committee, and public sector committee. His banking background placed him in a central role in establishing policies that helped in protecting the Lebanon banking sector while strengthening its abidance by international norms and laws. Additionally, Marwan helped draft and acquire government approval of the Capital Markets Law, Updating Anti-Money Laundering law, and the Cross-Border Cash Limitation Law.

In his quest for economic growth by empowering the private sector, Marwan Kheireddine was key in creating Banque du Liban Circular to create sustainable development through financing entrepreneurs. The Circular allows Banks to invest in incubators, technology startups, and venture capital. His crucial contribution in the banking sector saw him being elected on multiple terms to serve on the Association of Banks of Lebanon board.

Marwan has founded various small and medium businesses in multiple industries such as the Kingdom of South Arabia and Virgin Megastores in Lebanon, where he owns 80% of the company’s shares.

Kheireddine was a finance lecturer at the American University of Beirut from 1993 to 2013. Marwan studied at Richmond University in the United Kingdom for his degree in Business Administration and Economics and his Maasters from Columbia Business School in New York.
